Bring on spring!

The grass is greening up in our yard, a pair of tulips stands in a vase on my dining room table . . . and the snow is driving at about 50 MPH across the prairie here in Northern Indiana.  Sigh . . . I've been cheered all day by the bright springy pattern on this new clutch I finished today, though.  Bring on spring in all its unpredictable glory--Momma's got a brand new bag!

I'm hoping for the quick return of more sunshine and 60 degree weather like we had a couple of weeks ago. It brought with it a flock of rare migrating Sandhill Cranes who made camp at a nearby water hole and flew back and forth over the house all day as we worked in the yard and played with our new puppy, Harry. What a glorious day!

It's been a crazy busy week, so the projects on my sewing table have been quick and easy ones.  I finished a fun set of 4 coasters at the beginning of the week . . . 

and my goal for the weekend is to complete a simple new clutch with some funky orange/red and green tablecloth material and vintage orange dotted swiss I found at a garage sale last year. Can't wait to share!  Many plans being made for spring and summer shows and custom orders, so stay tuned for details!

Tea for Two

I just can't seem to concentrate on one project these days and bring it to completion. Right now I'm working on a table runner, two organizers, and, up until today, this little duo of quilted patchwork coasters to match the appliqued tea towel I finished last week. Congratulations to me for finally finishing these! They provided the perfect solution to using up the tiniest of scraps in my box of favorite feedsack/'40's pieces.

The tea towel is appliqued with matching fabrics and hand-embroidered. I think they'd be the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon chat with a friend and two cups of tea. My new favorites were discovered by Mom: Lipton vanilla caramel truffel and loose leaf Indian Tulsi Tea, which Nora and I enjoy in our tiny Japanese pot and handleless cups--just the right size for two!
